Indian intelligence agencies have issued a high-level security alert ahead of Republic Day on January 26 with the aim of disrupting national celebrations on 26th january 2026. According to intelligence reports, Khalistani terrorist groups and Bangladesh-based terrorist organizations are suspected of planning attacks targeting Delhi and other major Indian cities. Anti-terrorism authorities are tightening security measures across the country for the peace of India and the world.

       

Republic Day high alert

Sources suggest that these groups might try to exploit large public gatherings where there are huge groups of gatherings, like ceremonial events, and places of high importance during the Republic Day period. The alert was sent by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to central and state security agencies, including the Delhi Police and paramilitary forces, asking them to remain vigilant in the days leading up to the celebrations. A small inconvenience may cause greater damage throughout the nation.

Delhi, which will host the Republic Day parade, has been placed under maximum security. Multi-layered arrangements have been made, including additional deployment of police personnel and even National Security Guards, surveillance, CCTV monitoring, anti-sabotage checks, drone surveillance, and strict access control near sensitive installations. Intelligence reports indicate that foreign-based operatives could use local criminal networks and radicalized individuals to carry out attacks and plan any kind of unusual activities that bring threats to common people, further complicating the threat. The authorities stressed that the alert is of a preventive nature and that citizens should remain calm while cooperating with security personnel and should not make any disturbances on the following day. People are asked to immediately inform local authorities in case of any suspicious activity held around in your local  areas with unnecessary movements.
